Microsoft Build 2021: Latest announcements include browser improvements, Teams updates, and new AI tools
Microsoft's annual Build conference saw a host of new product developments, many of which were focused on its cloud computing technology and updates for consumer services. The company's browser, Edge, and its video conferencing tool Teams, are where the average user is likely to see the most changes, but Microsoft also revealed some tools using GPT-3, the artificial intelligence language tool made by OpenAI. However, the biggest update that users might have been expecting – a new version of its Windows operating system – is still to come, with CEO Satya Nadella saying that the "the next generation of Windows" is coming "very soon". Out Loud: Genesys to Utilise Google AI Across Its Platforms - UC Today
Patrick is joined by special guest Christopher Connolly, who is Vice President for Product Marketing at Genesys. Firstly Chris tells Patrick about how the relationship first started with Google. Genesys were one of the first contact centre providers to partner with Google Cloud and this latest announcement will extend the scope of engagement across the Genesys portfolio. "This latest announcement is an extension of that (partnership) where we have taken the capability to all three of the Genesys platforms: Pure Cloud, PureEngage and Pure Connect." Chris explains that because of this extended integration, Genesys is now able to offer all of its customers the benefits of this technology.
$16,000 voice controlled Laundroid can fold your laundry
You could soon fold a mountain of clean laundry without lifting a finger. A Japanese firm has combined its $16,500 fully automatic laundry folding robot with a desk lamp that responds to voice controls. Since Lumigent lights up automatically when spoken to, the integration will enable the lamp to command the basic Laundroid operations. Users simply load the machine with clean dry clothes and the robot arm inside will do the rest. Prior to the latest announcement, the machine operated via an app or control buttons on the device.
Neato's Botvac Connected robot vacuums get Google Home support
The California-based robot vacuum manufacturer has announced that Google Home support is coming to its Connected series vacuums. With the Botvac Connected already having Alexa integration, it was only a matter of time. If you are looking into getting a robot vacuum cleaner, you probably know the name. A California-based company that specializes in automated vacuums, Neato's Botvac series is arguably iRobot Roomba's biggest rival. I have the Botvac Connected for my apartment, and I personally thinks it's the best robot cleaner your money can buy right now.
